Every school has a morning procedure. In the States we often say the Pledge of Allegience. In Haiti they sing the national anthem. Here's a little snippet of what that looks like in Gramothe.
In a former life I was an 8th grade reading teacher in Mishawaka, Indiana, but now I call Haiti home. Here's how it happened. I came to Haiti in September 2010 on a grand adventure expecting to teach English for a year and then return to my life in Indiana. However, the Good Lord had different plans. I fell in love with Haiti--the beautiful mountains, the strong and resilient people, and ultimately an amazing man named Arold.
