Haiti Q & A: When are you leaving?

Q. When are you leaving for Haiti?
A. The short answer: when I've raised the rest of my support. I would really like to leave for Gramothe (gruh-mott) by September 1st, but I need to raise the remainder of my support before I can leave. At this point I know where 35% of my funds are coming from. I'm so very grateful for the people who have joined Team Gramothe. I feel blessed that they have chosen to partner with me in this ministry, but there are times where I freak out about where the rest of the money is going to come from. I am confident that God has called me to go to Gramothe, and I know he will provide what I need to do what he's called me to do. However, there are still days when I struggle to to trust God because in my human mind it seems impossible to raise all of the support I need by the end of August.

Making Progress

Packing, packing, everything I own.
Some stuff is big.
Some things are small, but in the box they go!
Big totes, small totes, and everything between.
Don't you wish never had anything else to do?

Burried Treasures: College Photos

In college I spent a semester on the south side of Chicago at the Christian Center for Urban Studies. While there were many wonderful things about living and studying in Chicago, meeting my good friend Christy was the best part. Here we are in the fall of 2002.

Here I am with one of my best friends in the whole world! Luci and I were bridesmaids in the Shipe wedding in June of 2004. I love this picture, and I love this girl!

What another gorgeous wedding picture! This time I'm with Becca at the Loucks wedding in 2005. I still think the state of Georgia should be closer to Indiana. Then maybe I could spend some time with my friend Becca.

At some point I made this awesome collage for one of those collage frames. All these pictures are from my junior year in college. In the top left corner is one of the best pictures ever taken of my college roommate and me. The next picture down is my high school bff and me making our own lip gloss. We were in a princess store where 8 year olds have birthday parties. It was awesome! The top right picture is of my closest high school friends. They are all scowling at me because I went on a family vacation instead of hanging out with them over Thanksgiving break! This picture was given to me up my return. In the bottom left corner is a picture of all the students in the CCUS program the semester I was there. And finally, there is a fabulous picture of me with some friends in the dining commons at Bethel. It's the worst picture ever taken of any of us, and so you get smiley faces. :)

House for Rent: 3 bed, 1 bath

My house will be available for rent starting November 1st. Main level has kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms, and the bathroom. Upstairs has a bedroom and an additional room that can be used as another living room, den, or craft area. It has a full unfinished basement with a washer and small dryer. The basement is perfect for storage, working out, or working on projects. The house is two blocks from Main Street and five from McKinley Avenue, and Bethel College is a quick 10 minute walk away. There are two neighborhood parks within 10 blocks, and the Mishawaka Riverwalk is just a mile away. If you are interested in renting my house, please leave a comment with your phone number or call me if you have my number.

Support Update

In early June I sent out letters asking people to support my ministry in Haiti, both in prayer and financially. I'm happy to announce that Team Gramothe currently has 15 prayer partners and 23% of the financial support necessary. Wooohooo! Thank you, Jesus!!

It blows me away to see how God is working out the details and providing all that I need. I am so very thankful that others are joining me in this ministry to the village of Gramothe!

Relaxation

I spent much of last week relaxing at my grandparents' house in Missouri. Spending time with them again was fantastic, and being on the lake made it that much sweeter. Lake of the Ozarks is a beautiful place. :)
