Messed Up

After teaching for five years in a public school, not much shocks me. My students' lives are very different from how I grew up. Now, I realize I lived a very sheltered life as a girl, but even if I hadn't, I think the end of this weekend update from one of my students would be disturbing.

  1. Oh.My.Gosh.

I know there's a lot more *bad* stuff that happens to children in their homes...but is there anything that can be done about this? Can you pass this to the school counselor?

  2. No, there isn't anything that the school can do--it's not anything we can report because the student isn't being neglected or abused. I made the counselor and his other teachers aware of the situation, and the student said his dad should be moving out by the end of the school year.
